Standards Australia have developed a Knowledge Management Framework which provides a comprehensive, holistic approach, starting at the strategic level and cascading down to organisational and technical implementation.
The Framework is "designed to reduce confusion about knowledge management, instil confidence in the value of this field and to assist organisations in its implementation."
The Framework is still under development. While we believe it currently has some serious flaws, for example, the definition of "data", it is nonetheless a very useful reference contribution to knowledge management, and provides a good anchor point in a field that that has been distinguished by confusion, bamboozlement, and vendor hype.
Consulting Insights have developed a simple, practical approach which complies with this Framework, and relates knowledge management to simple, everyday concepts that people can easily understand.
